Manifestations of the Holy Spirit & Revival Pt 1

I though it necessary to write a blog but this subject because there is so much misunderstanding about the subject of when God comes down and manifests Himself among people both sinner and Saint.
I have personally experienced for most of my Christian walk and ministry very powerful manifestations of God myself and with others when ministering in His presence. We are not to seek or worship manifestations but if we reject those that are truly from God then we are rejecting God Himself. I compare many of the manifestations as to what happens when someone is caught on fire or electrocuted in real life. They don't react or look very normal and act very physically violent to what they are feeling. So is it true for those touched by the power and presence of God.

God's Manifest Presence

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

II. Biblical Precedents for the Manifestations
The Bible does not record all the possible legitimate supernatural experiences. Rather it records examples of legitimate supernatural experiences that fall into broader categories that are typical of how the Holy Spirit works. This concept is taught in Jn. 21:25 in which John states that if all the works that Jesus did had been recorded, all the books in the world could not contain them! God is always and forever free to do unprecedented things that are consistent with His character and the principles of Scripture.

Sometimes people stretch Scripture to try to prove the validity of some manifestation that is not explicitly referred to in the Bible. (ex. trying to find proof texts for uncontrollable laughing, yet, it is not specifically mentioned in Scripture. However, "joy unspeakable and full of glory" is!)

To test the validity of a manifestation we should look at: the overall beliefs and life-styles (and changes in them!) of those affected, the overall beliefs and life-styles of those being used to impart the experience, the short and long term "fruit" of the experience, and the overall glory given to Jesus Christ in the general context in which the manifestations are occurring. Jonathan Edwards referred to five tests to determine if a manifestation is a true work of the Holy Spirit. He states that Satan cannot and would not, if he could, generate these kinds of things in people. If we can answer "yes" to one or more of these questions, then it is to be regarded as genuine despite any "little objections, as many (people) make from oddities, irregularities, errors in conduct, and the delusions and scandals of some professors (people who claim to be believers)" (i.e. some "human mixture" does not invalidate a general work of true revival, in fact, some should be expected).
Does it bring honor to the person of Jesus Christ?

Does it produce a greater hatred of sin and a greater love for righteousness?

Does it produce a greater regard for Scripture?

Does it lead people into truth?

Does it produce a greater love for God and man?

The basis for the occurrence of physical manifestations is rooted in the Biblical doctrine of the "manifest presence" of God.
Contrasted with the "omnipresence" of God -- i.e. God is everywhere, but He also reveals His powerful presence at specific times, in particular places, and for various reasons.

God "comes down" and interfaces with the natural realm.

When the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, eternal, infinite, holy, just, and loving God condescends to "come down" and touch weak and finite humans, what would you expect or predict might happen to the natural and normal order of things?

A few Biblical examples of the "manifest presence" of God:
Jn. 18:6 -- Unbelieving guards thrown to the ground

Acts 9:4 -- Saul of Tarsus saw brilliant light, thrown from his horse, heard Jesus audibly, was temporarily struck blind

Rev. 1:17 -- John fell as dead, had no bodily strength, and saw and heard into the spirit world

Dan. 8:17; 7-10, 15-19 -- Daniel fell, had no strength, terrified by Gods presence

1 Kg. 8:10,11 -- The priest couldn't stand because of Gods glory

2 Chr. 7:1-3 -- Solomon and priest couldn't stand because of Gods glory

Acts 10:10, 21:1 -- Peter and Paul fall into trances and see and hear into the spirit world

1 Sam. 19:18-24 -- King Saul and his antagonistic men are overcome by the Holy Spirit and prophesy as they near the camp of the prophets

Ex. 19:16(f.) -- Thunder, smoke, shaking of the ground, sounds of trumpets and voices upon Mt. Sinai

Ex. 34:30(f.) -- Moses' face supernaturally shines

Mt. 17:2-8 -- Jesus and his garment supernaturally made brilliant, supernatural cloud and visited by Moses and Elijah

Ex. 3:2 -- Bush is burning but not consumed

Jn. 1:32 - The Holy Spirit descends in bodily form as a dove

Lev. 9:24; 1 Kg. 18:38; 1 Chr. 21:26 -- Fire from heaven consumes sacrifices

2 Cor. 5:12, 13 -- Paul describes being "beside himself" as opposed to being "sober"

Luke 2:35 - A virgin conceives the Son of God

Episode 2 Fire of God Pt 2 Scripture Notes

NOTICE: Through a technical problem this week the audio has 6 minutes of dead air in the beginning so drag the bar on the recording forward 6 minutes and you should begin to hear the intro to the program.

I thought this second program went really well. I felt I was flowing easier in the Spirit and when listening to the recording afterwards I know I felt a lot more of His presence coming forth.

Scripture Notes:
1Cor. 2:2-4
Heb. 12:25-29
Mal. 3:1-3
Jer. 20:8-9
Jer. 23:29
Isa. 6:1-7
2Chron. 7:1-3
Luke 12:49-53

Quick review of a few of the things the fire of God can do:
  • Shake and remove all that doesn't glorify God in our lives and is a a firm foundation of His word in our lives
  • Burn up the chaff
  • Bring all the impurities to the surface so He can remove them
  • Cleanse and drive out demons
  • Burn within your soul so strong you have to keep preaching no matter how but the trials and adversity
  • Can divide families, churches and ministries

The main purpose for the fire of God is to make us more like Jesus and so we can minister his life, love and power to others.

Episode 3 will be a continuation of The Fire of God and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire. I wouldn't miss it because each week the fire is getting more intense.

Why I Live and Preach the Way I Do

God has delivered me from 34 years of a horrible sinful and hurtful life at the time of my salvation and now for 20 year as His disciple He has continually delivered me from sin, deception and falling away and shown great love, compassion, mercy and forgiveness towards me. How can I not give to others all He has given me. I have been forgiven way more than much in my life time so I am a radical lover of Jesus and therefore a radical lover of all people who need what I have.
My preaching can be at times very fiery, aggressive and in your face so I thought it best to explain why. I preach the way I attempt to live my Christian life by the grace of God and preach and minister from what has happened in my own life and persoanl relationship with Jesus throught the good and the bad.
First of all I must say that even though I use the title of Pastor of which I am with a house church my main office is not pastoral. My God given office is apostolic/prophetic/evangelistic. To say I'm just one of those things I cant do because of how God uses me in those dimensions as He will. Let me say they are His strengths in me. In Africa I am received as an apostle especially in Uganda. All three of those offices or gifting can be very fiery and aggressive in their nature. The apostle is a sent one on a mission from God with a kingdom assignment to violently take by force along with a forerunning, pioneering and breakthrough anointing and spirit to go into enemy held territories and establish God's kingdom rule and reign, most the time working with other apostles and the five fold ministries as a team. The prophet carries the word of the Lord for the Church, individuals and cities and even nations and many times called to bring correction and rebuke. The Evangelist has a fiery passion for souls to be saved and his whole ministry is set on saving souls and getting the Church to go out ad do the same. So all these combined in me only by the grace of God can cause me to be pretty wild and intense. Because I see who and what God is after and His jealous love burns in me towards the people I am ministering to as well as His wrath and vengeance towards the enemy manifesting, I will say and do anything He tells me to with the hope of setting captives free, bringing the church closer to Him and sinners to repentance for salvation and relationship. A lot of the people God is trying to reach through me are some of the most spiritually blinded, deaf and deceived people on earth, most thinking they are something that they are not. Because of God love reaching out to them I have to be very in your face, very blunt and confrontational stating obvious Biblical facts with the hope of the Holy Spirit convicting them and bringing them to true repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ. I don't preach condemnation because condemnation only speaks to the sin and punishment but the Spirit through me offers always a way out through repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ. Sin and deception has to be confronted or people will die in their sins and go to hell. I desire to be like Paul.

Acts 20:25-27 (New King James Version)
25 “And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more. 26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.

This type preaching is called polemic meaning an aggressive attack on, or refutation of, the opinions or principles of another. It is the art or practice of disputation or controversy. The word is derive from the Greek word polemikos, meaning warlike or hostile. This type preaching was seen in the reformers and revivalists of the past. The warlike aggressive preaching is not towards man but towards sin, wrong beliefs, mental strongholds, physical strongholds and even when speaking prophetically attacking spiritual strongholds ruling over cities, regions and nations; all for the purpose of pulling these down so men and be free, serve God in love and truth and establish the Kingdom of God in place of the kingdom of darkness.

It's only because of God's great love working in me and through me that I can preach this way because it can cause many people to turn on me that don't like it. In the Book of Acts there were to radical results when people were cut to the heart. The humble repented and the religious tried to kill the preachers and this is still true today. They said John had a devil. They said Jesus had a devil and they will say the same today to those telling them things they do not want to hear because of pride, sin or deception or all three. Thank God for His boldness and that the love of Christ compels me to say things under the anointing I might not say or fear to say in the flesh.

Episode 1 Fire of God Pt 1 Scripture Notes

The 1st episode was a challenge in the beginning as it took me over 20 minutes and two different phones to finally get on the call to begin ministering.
It's been over 2 years since preaching on the radio but God showed up as He always had and was able to minister through me. The radio ministry brings upon me a very powerful and intense presence. I guess it feels at times and though I'm God's flame thrower and the flames just shoot out of my mouth. It is sometimes hard to keep focused because it can get so intense but I wouldn't have it any other way. I call it ministering by the seat of my pants and the Holy Ghost. Another words, hang on for dear life because your about to go for a wild ride for a half an hour or so. I wish every Christian could experience what I feel and encounter with God in ministry. Many more would flock to Him and lay down their lives to minister. There is no better place to be on earth that in the presence of God.
Here are the Scripture notes from Episode 1 Fire of God Pt 1
Luke 24:49
Gen. 15:17
Ex. 3:2
Ex. 24:16-18
Ex. 40:34-38 (which I never got to read and is very powerful)
1 Kings 18:22-24
Ezk. 1:4
Dan. 7:9-10
Rev. 1:9-16
Heb. 12:25-29
See you next week and remember God is a consuming fire and jealously burns for you
